As much as I love reading atheist books, I’m really curious to know if there’s anything fiction or young adult (yes, I love the cheesy love stories) books that have an atheist or non religious character. I know most books usually don’t say anything about the characters religion because they want to make the relatable as possible but I have never read a book at specially said that there’s an atheist/ nonbeliever character and it wasn’t a bad thing. Google hasn’t helped me in my search so I’m asking you guys for any suggestions🙂

Star Trek V: The Final Frontier (I know a film not a book, but I'm sure there's a novel adaption out there somewhere) is about the search for a god but a skeptical Kirk inquires, "What does God need with a starship?", the entity attacks him in retribution. The others doubt a god who would inflict harm on people for pleasure. (from Wikipedia).

Spoiler alert!

The Golden Compass by Phillip Pullman.

Read "Origin" by Dan Brown. It is an excellent thriller that pits atheism against the Catholic church.
