It's like that everywhere. I'm kind of quick to tell someone I don't believe in God, in fact I usually say I don't believe in fairy tales. I find religious conversation very annoying and I'd rather let people know right away. No sense wasting time. Every once in a while people will ask me about what I believe and we have an intelligent conversation about it .

I got my second college degree from the U. of Akron and spent many years in Ohio. Depending on your location, and my memory of being there, there are Akron and Cleveland atheist groups, there are also Ohio areas that have people who are members of the Center For Inquiry. As others have said try and look them up on meetup.com.

Welcome to Ohio! This state sucks but it's what I call home. I don't volunteer that I'm a non believer as long as religion doesn't come up. Keeps things civil.

Do you live in the city, the suburbs, or in a rural area? I'm guessing you'd be OK in Cleveland, Cincinnati, Columbus, Dayton, and probably most states are like this.

I don't know how close you may be to any college towns, but you'll often find groups of non-believers nearby. Something about higher education and rational thinking. Whodda thunk it?!

I lived in Ohio briefly (about a year), so I know what you're talking about. The entire time, I didn't find one person who did not believe in and extoll the virtues of religion. As with you, I couldn't get a date, either....although I did get a few who apparently mistook my non-belief as a sign of willingness to be a side piece...Good luck on the dating scene!
