"The Green Book" is the best movie I have4 seen in years. It is playing in theaters now (posted Jan 16, 2019).

I believe it is based on a true story that takes place in the erly 1960's about a black concert pianist who plans to tour the deep South of the United States and an Itlaian bouncer who needs a temporary job while the club he works as is beign renovated. They start off getting on each other's nerves, but gradually grow to like and respect each other.

The film is very well made, does not exaggerate and isn't heavy handed, and is paced, acted and written very well.

This is oen of those movies that when it comes out on disc, I intend to own it. It is that good!

I liked it too. I have also heard criticism of it that it is too much of a feel-good movie for white people, but that hasn't soured me on it. I have heard some similar criticism about Black Klansman too, along with gripes about its accuracy, but I wasn't that impressed with that one in the first place. Spike Lee had already made at least two other movies that I liked better.

Unfortunately, in order to make money with m,ovies, they figured out that "feel good" movies make more money and are less of a risk.

However, in "The Green Book", I think they showed varying, wide degrees and different types of prejudice closer to how society is, than going with a more two dimensional view of societal prejudices. That is a positive step forward in film portrayals beign more true to life.

My point is that even if it was "feel good" it was still closer to true life than many previous films.
