DeVos wants the bible to be taught in public schools? She believes it sets the rules for society. I guess the part that calls for you killing everyone that disagrees with you is ok since it is in the bible.

I always hear Christians speak about morality and hold the Bible up as the standard for morality. But is the Bible the standard of morality in our modern culture here in the USA? I say NO...the Bible is not our standard of morality.
The God of the Bible endorsed slavery....we do not practice slavery.
The God of the Bible endorsed genocide...we do not.
The God of the Bible treats women as second class citizens....we do not.
The God of the Bible endorses a Monarchy....we are a Democracy.
The God of the Bible endorses death for Homosexuals and Heretics....we do not.
The God of the Bible is prejudiced against the handicapped....we make every effort to accommodate the needs of the handicapped.
I suppose if I thought a little more I would think of more immoral practices of the God of the Bible

You are right on _-- the good old bible is so wonderful.

Thanks for reading and agreeing....@Marine

Does she forget the seemingly non-capitalist nature of Jesus? The parts of compassion and respect in the bible? When did the bible say anything about the cut throat nature of competition in economies where millions of people are downtrodden? What rules for society? Does she mean obedient rules for society for the majority while the minority rapes the land and people of their dignity etc?

Right on

Betsy Devos is a nightmare. There are some economic justice ideas that would be worthwhile. I'd bet my last dollar those aren't the parts she's talking about, though. Wealthy Christians always skip over those.

We can teach good moral conduct without resorting to a bunch of outdated fairy tales......

Be side the point the Constitution forbids it it is a very short sighted request as there are many parts of the bible that I would not wish on any person . I wonder if she would just elect to skip these parts ?
