It’s not all that cut and dried.

First of all, success means different things to different people, but the video seems to assume that the acquisition of wealth and influence is life’s goal for everyone.

It’s not either/or. There are a wide range of factors that various people deal with. The poorest of the poor generally have great strength in certain ways which gives them some advantages, while rich kids might be adversely affected in certain ways by their affluence.

All of us have to deal with our circumstances. If the goal was supposed to be a dazzling career and to live in a suburban mansion, them my life has been a dismal failure, but yet I feel very contented. Yes, those groomed for such a life are “privileged”, but that is a relative term, and I had no desire to live such a life anyway.

There were a few stalwarts in the back who did not take those steps forward, and some of them refused to run. They wore expressions of disdain as they listened to a judgmental rant declaring them to be underprivileged because of family circumstances and because of their race. Where I live there are many Black families who live very well and are not underprivileged in any way.

That’s all I learned but maybe I’m stupid.

and some people never start their head, or at least their brain at all.

What a load of patronising self righteous crap.
If you have a father in the home mean nothing, if your parents are married means nothing, half of the so called examples mean nothing.
"Some of these black dudes"? What a racist fuckwit, he may as well have just started with
"Are you white, take ten steps forward. then feel guilty about it... but not too guilty."

Good video, pity it ends with a bible quote it did not need that.

Amazing video. Success in life is largely down to two things in a general sort of way - chance and hard work.
That's my experience, anyway.

I don't think it's they don't know it, I just don't agree people saying this is 'white privilege'.

So you did not learn anything from what you watched then.

Not necessarily "white" privilege. But there are definitely people who have a head start, and people that have a lot more to overcome!

@ownworstenemy Absolutely...I would not argue with that. I would say it's more cultural and economic, which the data supports, over some racist mindset that "you're white, so you automatically have a better life and more opportunities than I". Most data points to having a father in the house, the household has a job, parents finishing high school, and don't commit crimes - those are the biggest factors to living out of poverty.

@Jolanta - No, b/c I have watched other stuff that actually makes more sense. Some gaggle of people gathered together, that has no evidence it is a scientific representative group of society, asked questions that are developed to prove the assumption, isn't proof of the "white privilege" IMO. See the below videos that shed light on the real roots of the problems. As a scientist, you can't understand the situation and formulate a viable solution, unless you accurately understand and define the factors that created the situation. Science, data, and hard facts - the same stuff we insist on when talking about absurd religious claims.

Nigerian Americans seem to be doing well...

8-12 min specifically talks about the roots of the problems in the black community.

Here is another black women that points out the victim mentality and the refusal of the left to engage in dialogue...

@jondspen Grasping at straws here.

@jondspen some overlapping ideas, some counter ideas. Some good points and some frivolous banter. Thanks for sharing an opposing point of view!
