NPR talked about this on the morning show. There are no corolations given, thus neither right nor left wing, simply science data. As the guy talking said, it could be we are better at detecting, or there are a myriad of other possibilities to be looked at.
My question, with the shut down and the agencies that "protect" us inactive for the most part, are you worried, or more worried?
Since I do not consume carrion I feel for the inspectors that are on furlough. & those carcasses that are not being inspected for disease. I also feel for the creature that was farmed for slaughter. I will be washing my vegetables & peeling those that I can more vigorously.
I have known for years that being conscious of where your food comes from leads to better eating. Unfortunately, American "food" has been banned from importation to many other nations, because what the FDA deems safe for human consumption, other countries would never allow their citizens to ingest. For instance, petroleum based filler for "plumping up" shrimp before going to the market. Without the FDA running we are better off
Increased profit for special interest groups...greed and money...not health and safety...
I also don't like the connection of public health guidelines based on profit...a prime example is corn...a food that has been so genetically altered and used to fatten pigs, make ethanol, and high fructose corn syrup...touted as a versatile plant to gain profits at the health expense of humans...
Perhaps this is the wake up call that we should be more involved in how and where our food comes from...a return to local farmers' markets, organic farming practices, less processed/manufactured foods...
