Nobody understands the world except in a superficial way.

The true dichotomy is not between religion and science. It is between arrogant self-delusion under the name of science or religion, and the perception of fundamental human ignorance concerning reality.

The Scientific Method is a way of predicting results, and it's stood the test of time. Is that what you mean by "science"? What better way is there of learning about reality?

@Sayetsu I much appreciate the scientific method, and I am grateful for the knowledge and technology that science has brought. However, all human knowledge is superficial. Science does not even address, let alone answer the deep questions of existence.

I can't stand the arrogant twit..but this is a good quote

I am too often aware of my own ignorance. It's probably too late for me to become a biologist, a physicist, a meteorologist, an oceanographer, a botanist, or any of the dozen things I wish I knew more about.

But that doesn't stop me from picking up the tidbits of knowledge that I can find here and there, nor from increasing my understanding wherever I can, nor from trying to use that knowledge to what little extent I can to improve the world around me. It would be a poor substitute to sit in church and simply pray for someone to take care of it all for me.

Wide knowledge may be better than knowing a great deal about one small speciallity, there is something to be said for enjoying the benefits of science and letting the specialists do the work.

I believe the same! And, I think it puts our focus on someone outside ourselves too much. We make our own life from all our experiences and knowledge!

Faith...

Nardi Level 7 Jan 26, 2019

I prefer Knowledge.

Faith just means blindly believing without evidence. Knowledge beats faith into a cocked hat any day of the week, twice on Sunday.

Would you please make a case for it?

@Sayetsu No need for a case. Faith is not reason, devises no way to acquire knowledge other than hope or belief. There is no need to make a case other than suggest that you understand reason and the scientific method for determining reality. Hoping that religion of any kind is a valid way of understanding reality does not make it real.
