I took a class this evening. I am now totally enamored with plasma cutting and welding. Birds on a Wire.

I am so jealous! I have an ersatz forge with a nice antique blacksmith anvil where I do my metal work in both steel and copper. I have a nice MIG welder and a set of cutting torches but I'd REALLY like to add a plasma cutter to the mix. The cutting torches can do similar things but not nearly as nicely and easily. They are expensive however!

@MissKathleen Oh I already know how to use it. It is just the expense to add to my hobby tools. I originally bought my MIG welder and torches in response to a local vendor who wanted to charge me $2500 for hand-made wrought iron shelf brackets for my large pantry. I decided to buy my own tools and do it myself. I think they came out nicer than his! AND, now I OWN tools... All for less than what he wanted to charge me in the first place.

I will eventually buy a plasma cutter but need to justify it like I did for the welder and torches.

Kudos to you for experimenting!

I am a metallurgist engineer.
I can specify, plan the process, decide the materials and conditions, but one day I want to learn how to do it for real.
The same with forging.

@MissKathleen I have no manual abilities whatsoever XD

@MissKathleen Just need to find a day and a place to learn XD.
I live literally in the middle of nowhere.

Very nice. I’ve recently started a welding class myself. Playing with fire is very cool
