That would be an amazing happenstance if he truly was looked after by a bear. Intraspecies recognition of juvenile adption and tending to stress is not unheard of, but this is a new for me. Except in myth and legend of course, oh and yeah and Rudyard Kipling. Lol

By any chance was this bear named 'Baloo'?

It's a good thing it wasn't one of those she-bears.

2 Kings 2:23-24 New International Version (NIV)
Elisha Is Jeered
23 From there Elisha went up to Bethel. As he was walking along the road, some boys came out of the town and jeered at him. “Get out of here, baldy!” they said. “Get out of here, baldy!” 24 He turned around, looked at them and called down a curse on them in the name of the Lord. Then two bears came out of the woods and mauled forty-two of the boys.

@Bendog I'm on the east side of Washington, so in the middle of a sage desert. More coyotes than bears. But I would assume this is hibernation season. I don't know.

I'm glad he's safe. The bear story would be great, if it were true.
Aren't most bears still hibernating right now?

My dad was more practical and basically told us to sit our asses down and not move if we got lost...no imaginary friends or god...just plain common sense...

When I lived in Western Washington state we'd take our kids hiking in the mountains. They each had a fanny pack with a whistle, a mirror, a trash bag with a face area cut out, and a bottle of water. If they got lost they were to attach themselves to a tree. They could use the trashbag as a raincoat if needed. They were to blow on the whistle from time to time, and try to find the sun and reflect it off the mirror. We never got to test it out, we never lost a kid.

@HippieChick58 I understand a mirror is what has saved the lives of many who are lost or stranded. We should all teach kids some basic stuff...that is awesome...I was only lost for three days but I never saw anything other than deer and squirrels...
