getting rid of lies is not censorship. that's responsibility.

youtube, a private entity, may allow or disallow whatever it likes. no one is being arrested for trying to spread lies on youtube. youtube is weeding out the liars. that's not censorship.

if someone goes on television every day and shouts that you have killed your neighbor, even though 1. you have killed no one and 2. your neighbor is still alive and 3. the person doing the shouting has been shouting the same crap about others for a while, and the tv station decides not to run that shouting anymore, is that censorship? no, it is not.

I see it as providing better service to viewers.

If those providing content are goign afte fringe viewers, and are tryign to increase the size of hte fringe, it will only cause problems for the world at large over the long run. Strange things will happen like the UK will decide to leave the Eu or Donald Trump will get elected president, because of all the misinformation peopel have been led to believe as true.

The changes Youtube is doing kind of like incorporating some traditional Journalistic standards into how content is prioritized. It is a more real world fact based approach, which will only make Youtube a more efficient tool for people to learn things which are actually useful and have some usefulness as the content will generally be more factually based.

Press for Truth is a starvation budget version of Gaia. That's just for starters.

Now, reducing such material that shows up for recommendation is not censorship under any circumstances. The material is still there, it just means I won't be showered with 'the-aliens-did-it' videos so frequently. Anyone who is interested in learning how 9-11 was an inside job carried out by the CIA can still get their dose of BS by calling it up. All it means is that I won't have to put up with Woo Market clutter, and I'm all for that.

First off, that's not censorship. The government censors. It's a private company and everyone who subscribes or posts agrees to the terms of service.

Second, it's not a bad thing that fantasy videos about Obama and Hillary being pawns of George Soros to sell us all to Israel are getting a closer look. Or videos about vaccinations causing Downe syndrome. Or you name the conspiracy.
