I can’t find it, but somebody posted about the destruction of the Joshua Tree National Park. I have two thoughts on that.

It is the "shoot,shovel, & shut up" method of the vigilante. "I can destroy what I don't like". The cattle barons against the sheep ranchers. The answer to the Indian "problem" . "Don't like it. Kill it." Not my favorite method of problem solving.
