I am currently trying to watch Britbox television and I want to know if anyone has any recommendations for a good British Soap opera, I have been trying to watch Emmerdale but I was thinking there may be a better British Soap Opera?
I used to live in close proximity to Canada, and would watch Eastenders, and Coronation Street on Canadian TV stations. I found them novel, in that the principle characters are blue collar, working class types; and easier to relate with. This, as opposed to American soaps, which are all based on the 'trials and travails' of imaginary rich people.
Really Emmerdale is that even still a thing? I am dreadfully dull as I barely watch TV anymore. Of the soaps I know there is Coronation Street which is as easily as old as me and set up here in the North of England. Eastenders is set in the poorer part of London. It is very popular in Canada. As I say, I don't watch a lot of TV. We tend to watch BBC news, local news, then CNN for US news. We do binge watch Netflix stuff. I must say the most recent rendition of Les Mis (non-musical) on BBC is superb. I don't watch commercial TV as my parents were weird about it and its stuck. I just find I easily get bored watching TV but I know there is lots of quality out there.
I suppose I should mention my ex who is American loathed British soaps. He thought they were all too dull, too lifelike and too shouty. He wouldn't have allowed them on. His new wife insists on a constant run of TV drivel (normal people's TV as my son says). Hahaha revenge is sweet!
