Not only do I love live theatre, I make my living on it! For the past 30 years I have been a Dramatic Arts teacher and director at a public high school. We do seven productions a year and I tend to do at least one show a year that stirs up the pot: "The Laramie Project," "Inherit the Wind," "The Crucible," "Sweeney Todd." Even shows that may seem rooted in an age get an update: my production of "Macbeth" this fall was updated: the three witches were news anchorwomen (a la Fox news) who manipulated Macbeth (updated to suggest Trump) to opt for demagoguery.

Yes, dead theater gets pretty boring after the first 20 minutes.

Thanks for the replies all. I have been an active practitioner in the Philadelphia Theatre scene for close to 4 decades. I've acted, directed, done dialect coaching and dramaturgical research... I've also designed sets and sewn costumes.
I worked as the Marketing asst. of 1 equity company in the area and as a Development Asst. at another. Currently I primarily review productions--love to see how the smaller companies with limited budgets get the most out of their funds to present quality work. Philly is lucky to have great talent on and off stage.
Loved the Shaw Festival when I went there a couple of years ago. My brother works on Broadway, so I've seen a few things in NYC. Would LOVE to go to the Humana Festival at the Actor's Theatre in L'ville.
I would have killed to see HAMILTON w the original cast, but I'm broker than broke. Touring company may be coming to Philly, maybe I can volunteer to usher or something. I play the cast recording constantly in the car.

Adore live theater. Broadway, and off Broadway , regional and the live filmed West End productions which have special showings in local theaters. I've seen 3 from London which came to NY and all 3 won Tony Awards.
What themes do you enjoy most?
