Apparently out Islamic Brethren are in a flap again because if one takes the term "Nike air max" as written on the sole of said shoe, turn it upside down and edit it, the resulting logo appears to be somewhat similar to the word Allah written in Arabic script. So of course as a matter of obvious blasphemy, all the shoes have to be at once withdrawn and destroyed.

I suspect 95% of the signatures come from people who aren't Muslims but who are desperate to present themselves as tolerant non-bigots by leaping on every bandwagon they can find, (but who never stop to read the manual to see what they're actually siding with).

Yes Virtue signalling is insidious

I see many different gods in my cereal every morning.

@creative51 Got paw paw? I will ponder the inquiry. =0}

It isn't that big a deal with the Islamic press. Yes about 30k pissed off people signed a petition and every fricken US paper went ape shit. Same thing happened some years ago with a tire and its tread. A big to do about nothing.

I simply find it amazing that anyone ever took this even remotely seriously, on either side, but they did and they do and yet global warming gets laughed at.

Stepping on Allah is considered pretty badly blasphemous in the Muslim world. And there are probably some who suspect this similar design was intentional. It is so hard not to blaspheme nowadays.

Which is why I’ve long held blasphemy laws should be gotten rid of. Free speech is the way to go.

@Denker I agree, but no doubt there are many who think you have blasphemed just for saying that. 😮

What makes them our brethren?

Nothing, I was being sarcastic at everything above a mitochondrial level.

They all are offended, always.

a sort of 11th commandment, "thou shalt infere insult where none was intended, an make a fool of thyself by being loudly offended."

@LenHazell53

Proverbs 18:19 ...
A brother offended is more unyielding than a strong city, and quarreling is like the bars of a castle.
