Wow...I just realised something. I am free to get married! Now just so you know, I am less likely to look for a husband as much as a way out of UK. I already have US residency (sorry but you can keep it), so preferably I'd like an Irish, Dutch or French person. I am not bothered about looks or gender particularly. I am being honest here, I am not after a partner, just a new country. Obs Ireland would be best coz I kinda speak the language and can learn Irish gaelic. Just cannot do this shitey Brexit anymore. Giggles...I did meet an American who lived in Eire who owned a hotel and a farm but well...he just wanted boob pics. (Oh you would have to be prepared to take on my current partner, my three adult children, my crazy mixed up family and all the rest!)

Sorry, all my brothers are taken??. And my OH got his Irish passport years ago, as a 'Just in case'. He is so glad he did!

I'm also tempted by a marriage of convenience if this country goes through with Brexit. However, it's not just as simple as finding someone who will tie the knot. You would have to demonstrate that it's a real relationship and meet other residency and national requirements, and you would have to pay for that. Generally it would take years unless you are so rich you can fast-track the process with a substantial financial investment.

Nah did it in USA, no one questioned it. I'm not rich, but I am a nurse...so..

@Amisja I didn't know it was so easy in America. Kind of makes a wall redundant.

Wait....you have a "current partner" and you are now looking also to get married? and you want to bring your three adult children along?

So, you need someone who wants 5 people total?

Confusing....

Well I can't just come right out and say, 'I only want your natuonality' now can I? 😉 I am not really bothered about another relationship. 😉 😉

@Amisja ok, I see that now....you are just looking to immigrate somewhere new! LOL

Well, hope that works out for you! hahahaha

Whew. I'm in the US so I am safe from this irresistible temptation.

did someone say boob pic?

Tut tut...I may turn up yet 😉

@Amisja did I mention I live in Virginia. Insert shoe polish quip.

@CallMeDave oh dear....

@Amisja Need more info on "current partner". Specifically, gender.

@CallMeDave Let me check 😉

@CallMeDave He is a grumpy old fella

@Amisja I got me one of those too!

@Tilia I might know where there is a spare one, if anybody is looking.

You don’t need to speak Irish to live in Ireland, the majority don’t speak it....English is the language spoken by everyone except in the Gaeltacht areas of Donegal and down the West Coast...and even there they all speak English too. I might be taking myself over the border to the Irish Republic too, soon after Brexit. If Scotland ever get their independence back, I will move back there. The other countries I like are Norway and Italy. Norway for their dramatic scenery, good governance and happy population and Italy for its, food, wine, scenery, sun, people (esp. the men!), history...need I go on? Btw Im free to remarry too, but that would be a step too far!!

Can I tag along?

@Amisja We could travel around together to sample what each place has to offer.

@Marionville Sounds perfect

True. I don't speak Gaelic myself, but can understand a bit. Sassanach is whet we all speak mainly (that's Gaelic for English, BTW)

@Tilia Ha ha...! I am the original Sassenach, a Lowland Scot. It was the name the Scottish Highlanders gave to us because we spoke “lallans”, a dialect of English, and not the Gallic.

Too confusing for me but I eat brexit every morning.

We have all had too much of it forced on us ....so much we’ve got bellyache!
