Worry about Russia is overstated it should be China which is challenging the USA for economic power, has enlarged their military and plan to have an ocean going Navy with perhaps the largest sub fleet made with stolen US secrets and building military bases in the south sea.Their technology is growing at a rapid rate using much stolen information. Their president is solidifying control over 1.4 billion people. Here i a real challenge.

China is HUGE. Parts of China have no idea they are communist, let alone leaders of anything. The infrastructure in rural parts is non-existent and the population isn't anywhere near as organised as you'd imagine. I agree there are semi-large pockets of industrial might and technology to match the west but they are not interested in military intervention, they want your money. As the Chinese population falls (and it will), they will become increasingly better educated, they will demand higher wages, better employment rights etc etc...
Now you want a country that really will become an industrial and technological giant...India.

I have heard it said that if China wanted to, it has enough people to build a landbridge over the Bering Strait with the bodies of its own people, and send an army over here, by foot, to beat us with cudgels--and they'd win handily.

I never forgot that.

If I were the Chinese leadership and considering the military threat that 'merca poses to the world, that is what I would do.

It will not be long before China can exert it's power and claim territory in the south seas and around the globe. Taiwan recovery may only be a few years away and it will be interesting if we will move to defend it.
