Does anyone else hate to waste a sick day on a day when you're really sick? After a few of them in close order you see the impact of it on your remaining time off. Time you wanted to use for fun.
My best sick story was when i was leaving the IRS, union contract stipulated that unless you were out for more than 3 consecutive days no doctors release could be required, it also stipulated that Friday and Monday were nonconsecutive days. I had 30 days of sick leave to use in a 90 day period, since I didn't get paid for any unused sick leave, I managed to use it all, I worked Wednesdays.
We joke that we can tell when someone is going to retire in a year because of how they use the sick policy: consecutive days out count as 1 absence, you have to have 4-6 absences to risk being fired within a 3 month period so we would have people out sick for 3 days in row every other week. All they had to do was get up and make a phone call every day before they were due to clock in
I stay home when i'm sick because I can barely function, but I get excited because then i can lay on the couch and watch tv all day.
You’re supposed to save them for mental health days!
