What could go wrong with confiscating guns from people who are considered risks to the public due to mental health issues? After all, it is just "common sense" gun control. [thetruthaboutguns.com]

Define the line between 'normal' and 'mental health issues'. Some of the people who have initiated mass murder are thought to be kind, normal people until they go off. I really don't want the government to draw that line -- they will f it up. Look at health care -- the government got started 'managing' health care costs in the 1970's. Look where we are today.

My problem with the issue is that persons can have their property confiscated without due process of law, by a law enforcement person acting on a complaint. The Constitution states that a person my not be deprived of his property without due process of law. Also, ignored by anti-gun persons is that there is already a legal process in existance where a person can legally have his guns taken...to have his day in court and be declared incompetent after testimony is heard.

@dahermit I can agree -- it is very nazi-like, in that the government reacts to rumor and gossip, not unlike the Catholic Church's slaughter of 10's of thousand (or more) during the dark ages.

Just a TINY bit biased... But I'm glad to learn about this--I had no idea & lived in CA for over 30 years.
