I'm only about 10 miles from the Memorial, the Japanese community on Bainbridge Island was hard hit, they were farmers and lost their homes permanently

We did the same thing to UK German, Austrian and Italian Citizens ironically many of who were Jewish refugees.
It was a mad time.

Yep. A friend of mine in the Navy told me about his dad who served in WWII to keep himself, his parents, and siblings from being rounded up in California. When we were in Denver my friend took me to the beautiful Japanese cultural center and I met his Aunt and Uncle. A lot of Japanese stayed in Colorado after the war.
