Most countries are or at least the principles of their holy books
Those principles include
Slavery
Subjugation of women
Denial or limiting of education to the majority of the populous
Glorification of poverty as being noble for the promise of a better hereafter
The enrichment of the priesthood at the cost of the poor
The institution of of a class or cast system
Oppression by fear
