The problem of America is, it’s only 200 years old and it has no significant singular history and culture

We are a country of immigrants from many different cultures mashing it up into a singular country.

And so, as a country, we resorted to superficiality where the flag is the single most significant symbol of being American. This is being enforced with flags everywhere and a national anthem before any sports event. Hence, the outcry over Colin K. being “un-American”. How dare you to not stand for the flag!? Reality is, Colin K has more depth and look behind the symbol of the flag. No other country reveres the flag as much as Americans do.

There is no singular cultural significance behind the flag. This lack of structure and discipline within an poorly defined culture has lead to personal ambition, a “me over you attitude”, self-centeredness, and materialism.

And this shows in our expansionism, exploitation, and forceful interventions.

And the world knows. trump is a mere symptom of this attitude. Then the media calls him “Un-American” and my question them is “define America as a culture” without the anthem or the use of a flag. What do we stand for?

i disagree. i think our diversity can be our strength. the problem isn't a lack of a singular cultural significance behind the flag. the flag is irrelevant. the problem is that our wonderful diversity is used by crooks to divide us instead of to make us curious about each other and support one another.

Ironically its multi-culturalism that made us great along with Great Enlightenment idealism which united us. Proof that our country was founded on Great Enlightenment ideals is demonstrated by the Smithsonian Institution which was founded by a European Great Enlightenment thinker who donated his wealth to create that great institution in a country he never visited.
Opportunity to improve ones economic condition was once the American dream. This dream is now threatened, not due to racism as it traditionally has been, but by the lack of affordable education opportunities. These educational opportunities must be made affordable again. Education is the key to restoring the traditional Great Enlightenment ideals that America was founded on and our flag once stood for. Otherwise Freedom is just another word for nothing left to lose and we will lose that eventually as well.
