My cat was pregnant when she was spayed. I have no trouble sleeping at night. It was the right thing to do for her, the kittens and myself.

I'm trying to trap a feral presently, that is pregnant - and she will be spayed if I get her, The last thing the world needs is more cats ! PS - I've always had pet (indoor) cats.

Just more folks pushing their morality around.

It sucks but yeah it has to happen. There is no winning here. I've seen the black plastic bags that hold the frozen remains of animals who had to be euthanized at a shelter ... and spaying the pregnant female is more humane, sadly.

Is it more humane to allow the kittens to be born and THEN euthanized?

It isn’t abortion, that is the first point. The Vet won’t spay a pregnant cat, nor a nursing mother cat for six weeks after birth. Yes, they should be spayed, especially the feral ones (if they can be caught). Cats, if left to reproduce, can do so at an alarming rate, and all responsible owners are advised to do so. My Vet has always advised to allow a female cat to have one litter and then six weeks afterwards to have her spayed. I don’t believe this traumatuses the mother, in my experience of keeping cats...all my life, I believe it makes them calmer, better pets.
