Just last week, Pat Robertson told a woman that god had killed her son so that he wouldn't grow up to be an atheist. I just hope that this tragedy isn't another reason for the non-believer community to be blamed. They are like the NRA - not change but call for MORE religion.

That statement from Pat Robertson helps solidify my idea the religious are not in touch with their humanity. Where is there compassion? They seem to have a way of JUSTIFYING the tragedy in someone's life rather than trying to help the grieving person by showing support.

All gods of all religions are more evil than any human. That is the flaw of all religions. Allow everyone to believe what comforts them most. An atheist may reply that a good god would not kill anyone or do anything more evil than you would do. Sapiens need comfort and compassion. Say whatever it takes to comfort each other. (No matter what the truth is.) The truth is for the strong and young. It is not for those who are too weak to take it.

The truth is for everybody. The truth will set us free from our weakness if we accept and change for a better life . . . oh, well, some guys really can handle it better than others.
I think that Pat Robertson is a sham and the people that follow him deserve what they get because they can't see how utterly wrong he is. To make that assumption about why her son was killed is absolutely baseless but sadly his followers will believe him. I don't think any of the killers in recent and even remote history were atheists. They were all gods children gone astray. They decided to be godlike and become judge, jury and executioner all in gods name.

interesting that you commented on killers being god like as I have been thinking about that recently. Those who act out violence really are very proud of their god like power to destroy. Most of that type are NOT creative people, only find gratification in being the destroyer. Not sure that the psychology industry has identified this as a common denominator but play god may be the ultimate power for those who are deeply conflicted about their own humanity. Or, maybe I should say have been manipulated to think hat way.

Pat Robetson is a despicable, dementedly demagogic, greedy charlatan whose behavior has become so bizarre that even his loyal followers will eventually leave him. The irony is that his rants are totally contrary to the tenets of his faith. In other words, they are blasphemous!

Many of his loyal followers are simply dying off and with them goes some of his sustaining cash flow - as long as we can keep the GOP from handing over more money for their theocracy. So, there may be light at the end of the tunnel through sheer demographics!
