Who remembers perusing the wonders of the toy section while your mother shopped for clothes or shoes? probably no more than five or six years old, I would be allowed to get out of my mother's way, and go check out the toys. I knew how better then than I do now how to behave myself and not make a mess or be playing football in the aisle. the notion of being abducted seemed as foreign as wearing a helmet to ride your bicycle. it was all cool till Mom came and wanted me to come try on clothes.

Me! And, there were 3 more of us! Though, quite disciplined ...we’d wait till other kids broke open boxes and began running firetrucks up and down the isle … cuz Mom would have paddled out butts then & there..

Later, working in the same store as a teen, it was football in the aisles! Bowling, too! One night I was sliding around end displays on a an ‘off the shelf’ skateboard … making up for good behavior 😀

A different world. Less paranoia, fear, and anger.

Yep, I remember the feeling of freedom doing stuff like that. Anyway, if anyone had abducted me, they'd have returned me very quickly. I have a hunch my mother knew that. ?

Good old days when you did not need to worry about a child molester.

@PalacinkyPDX Sorry for your experience. I did what the man stated and nevber was afraid. Maybe because I was a big kid.
