Last evening, I watched the Academy Award winning short documentary, "Period. End of sentence", about how menstruation is dealt with (rather, NOT dealt with) in India. If you ever doubted the pernicious malignancy of patriarchy, fueled in large part by religious belief systems, then please see this film. It's now available for streaming on Netflix. Be prepared, however, to be shaking your head in disbelief that such human ignorance is still rampant in the 21st century. Men need to see this documentary as much, if not more, than women. I came away from the film wondering why more women don't hate men.

I have a friend who goes to Nepal every year to work with a charity which provides toilets and sanitary provisions for women. The country is every bit as backward as India but of course it's religion is predominantly Hindu so no surprise there.
