Someone just posted this on FB a few seconds ago. So do you want to spend 20 minutes in line, or 30 seconds doing it yourself? Also by "don't work there", does that mean they go through the store with the cart, put everything you want in it, and deliver it to your own home? Oh and unload it too...
I've never spent 20 minutes in line at a grocery store. Ironically, I have seen long lines for self check out. The issues are usually to do with prices rung up not matching the shelf price, produce, or ringing up produce and other items that won't scan.
Some grocery stores dohave services of gettign the groceries on your list and delivering them to you, but there is an extra charge for that. Also, I prefer to be able to compar prices on site and choose my own produce and meat items as well as beign able to check the code dates myself.
If they gave yhou a discoutn for self checkout, perhps I might be more friendly towards it, but hey charge you as if someoen else checked you out anyway.
One final not. I myself am legally blind. I don't see well enough to use self check out. The visual aids I use to shop do nto work as well or are a pain to try to use with a touch screen.
@snytiger6 I was exaggerating about the 20 minute part, but at time I swear it is close (or at least seems like it). Friend and I went to a store once. He was done shopping and was in line at the checkout. I had to go back and get some stuff. I was waiting for him by the exit. He asked how I got done so fast. I said I just used the self checkout. If it ts the legally blind thing you are worried about, there is usually one or two employees where to help you at self check out if need be. Anyone can still use regular checkout if they want. This is just my preference. I want to get in there, sweep, and clear ASAP.
