Thought for food:

I recently had a “wonderful” experience in one group on this site. It was wonderful because it made me realize something extremely important.

I made a post and was instantly (in less than a minute) met with downrright vile commentary.
And soon, others joined that bandwagon.

And this made me realize why children in school bully and pick on one particular target.

They do so because when you humiliate someone (read: projection of their personal insecurities), the perceived value of the members of the group is raised (mob mentality).

And as adults, we shake our heads to teenager bullying, yet, some are not aware they haven’t grown out of adolescence yet.

We see the same in politics. trump literally did the same (arrogance and condescension) and crowd sourced his base with blind obedience so their perceived value was raised. ....

@Marcel3405 Actually you haven't left the group - but I'm taking care of that for you now.

You had a problem in a group because of how you presented yourself.

Now you've gone on to shit-post about your experience - like it was the group who created it.

No you had input into that experience. You do not tell people on social media that you claim to be an expert - then call them stupid for not believing you when you try to stuff your ideas down their throats.

You won't be repeating the experience there.

@Marcel3405 That you were rude and condescending and now expect sympathy for it? Yes point taken.

I was there...

The attack on Marcel was savage, vicious, and utterly DISRESPECTFUL!

I've been insulted before on here, but the attack on an innocent individual was and is downright unacceptable!!!

Again, Marcel; I'm sorry you experienced that.

Online bullying. I definitely would report it.

I had to leave the group because I can't be part of that type of behaviour. That's how awful the attack on Marcel was!

@PalacinkyPDX I'll even show you if you like. 😉 brb incoming PM

No he disrespected the group - by basically ordering everyone to believe that he was an Expert --- in a field that ISN'T really a Science.

He then went on to call members "Stupid" and berate them when they were less than civil about it.
He said we weren't "professionals" - well no - if he's read about the group - he'd have known that.
(I was and I gave him a fair shake and found him entirely lacking with a self published book and no credentials).

He had no way of knowing I run one of the Scammer groups on site and would look at him under a Microscope - which I did. (And that takes time).
And there is no way to prove he's a published author - but we do have several here - and it's not a crazy claim to be making. When I discovered he was Self Published - I realized there was no reason to be concerned he was an impersonator stealing someone's bio..

I know you have respect for this person.
But he was far from respectful with our members in that group. That was his first visit as far as I know.

I even told him he was welcome to make another attempt and try to not make it look like a sales pitch - which is precisely what set everyone off.

And by dragging the drama here - he's lost his second chance.

Everyone there was cautioned - but this just goes against my sense of fair play.

It's a group to support each other. This is about tearing people down again. In yet another venue.

I had similar experience. I've thought a lot about mob mentality and have not been able to unravel the reasoning.

Stay strong and be you. ?

Sadly just because members don't believe in a higher power doesn't mean they behave better than theists ☹. I too have been attacked when making comments. Sorry yours was so extreme.

Unfortunately this is our world, our people, I felt the same many times...?

I think it's turning the forum into groups of echo-chambers. People seem to love the sense of belonging.

@Davethecave No, it's more like tiptoe through the tulips.
