The simple answer is a constitutional amendment. The reality is that will never happen because you require 3/4 of the states to adopt an amendment and the small statesa gain a disproportional advantage inthe current system.
Anyone who has studied constitutional history would know that it was designed to fail.

I see the point of the Electoral College. Basically, it is intended to be a protection against overly emotional and non-intellectual voters. However, it has become an extension of the dominant party of that time, and they do not have to answer to the voters or justify their actions. I would not want to get rid of them. I want them to further good governance.

I voted for Obama in both elections; that said, there were several times I was disappointed to mad as hell about a few of President Obama's decisions. One particularly bad one was his intentional murder of a 16-year-old US citizen, who had no charges against him and never received an "fair trial" as was his right as a Citizen, in Yemen (Anwar al-Awlaki).
As for corruption, the fact is that the same people who we allow to bribe Republicans, also bribe Democrats.
the will of the people...hahaha...oh, I am hilarious...congress will have to decide it isn't in their best interest....and I don't see that happening....
