In a world where working class people regularly vote conservative, I will never underestimate the ability of the general population to shoot themselves repeatedly in the foot.

Damn straight

Slogans are easier to swallow than complex ideas.
People do not want to think, to listen a sequence of 5 or 10 ideas that will support and complete each other to form a conclusion. They want 1 simple and fast sentence that seems to be the definitive answer for all.

So to say that "there are many regulations, so we get out of them and become free" looks right.
But no one listen to: Free to do what? who will buy our products, from who will we buy products from? How will we compete with countries that have many hundreds of million of inhabitants, same level of technology and more natural resources than us?

The era of european countries with 100 years advanced technology, dominating less developed societies is over, now they have at least 4 other powers competing ( Russia, China, India and USA) on the same level, but more resources, more people etc.

You can be a vote inside a block that will compete, or not part of the big game whatsoever.

Agreed. It makes no sense!
