Imagine if Russia, China, Iran, Nth Korea.....any other country in the world did this. Threaten the International Criminal Court with visa cancellations, sanctions if they dare investigate a US citizen.
American exceptionalism at it's best. This is why both Israel and Saudi Arabia feel free to do the shit they do.

We either have a fully independent ICC or none at all. It is despicable for the US to take this line, because of its powerful position. All people who commit crimes should be aware that they will be prosecuted, no matter what nationality they are, or where the crimes were committed. That goes for military personnel and civilians alike.

Ermmm, I agree that it's a shitty thing to do, but none of the countries you mentioned are signatories to the ICC either.
It's less American Exceptionalism, more look at the company you keep.
