I woke up this morning to author Arthur Brooks on C-SPAN speaking about loving your enemies at the AIPAC conference.

I just posted this on his Facebook page.

:-----:

Just watched your AIPAC speech. I do not see how there is any love in supporting an apartheid state murdering the innocent on a regular basis. The love I see is from those working for justice for all the people of Palestine.

What I see from AIPAC is the constant smearing of those involved in this endeavor. What I see from the AIPAC side is the type of people who mock the horrific death of murdered peace activist Rachel Corrie by holding an annual pancake breakfast. The side that elevates the Hebron mosque shooter to the status of national hero. The side that hypocritically points the finger at Iran for their legal nuclear program as signers of the NNPT as they lie about their own undeclared nukes.

I see your side as continuing to turn truth on its head. I see your side on the wrong side of history every bit as much as the former apartheid regime of South Africa. I see with much pain how much AIPAC perverts and corrupts our own government with their disdain for truth-tellers.

Your message reminds me of Elie Wiesel's message of a commitment to justice for the downtrodden, that incredibly never made it to encompassing the beleaguered people of Palestine, who have suffered under the boot heel of the Zionist invaders for decades.

That, I feel, will be coming to an end soon. Because of true love. Not the lip service couched in words of love you spoke in the support of those who would continue to brutalize the people of Palestine. That is the difference.

I have other images that are not so viscerally horrific, but I feel this needs to be seen and understood at that primal level.

I apologize to anyone who is traumatized. I am traumatized as well. It wounds me to my core, and I feel almost totally helpless. There is absolutely no reason that we must live in a world enabling and justifying such despicable acts, let alone those committing them.

I don't know what to say about this, I get so sad and angry that people can do this with a straight face and consider themselves to believe in God.

I grew up with the conventional wisdom believing that the Israelis were the "white hats" and that the Palestinians/Arabs/Muslims were the "black hats." After 9/11, I wanted to know more about the conflict in the ME. I came to the realization that the narrative was totally one-sided. I largely credit many outstanding Jewish voices (my close friend Bernie the Attorney for one) for opening my eyes. I see on a daily basis the efforts by Zionists and their stooges to dismiss truth-tellers in the most reprehensible manner, up to and including threats of violence.

Truth needs no army of thugs to establish it; only lies need enforcers.

"I am so bloody sick of the claim that the slaughter of innocent people by bringing down the full force of modern weaponry from every possible direction to mangle their flesh in the most horrific and violent ways is not monstrous because [reasons]."

MURDER as COVER for
THEFT and OPPRESSION
is NOT self-defense

It's a war crime.

To the surviving people of Palestine;

I am truly so very sorry that you, your families, your neighbors, and your country suffer so as a brutal slaughter is waged across your land. I have tried to remain informed and active politically so that I could do whatever I can to help prevent my country from inflicting further such tragedies on others. As you might imagine, sometimes I too feel very helpless in this regard. You all have done much to remind me that sometimes courage can be as simple a thing as to just keep moving forward. And for that, you have my sincere respect, admiration, and gratitude. Please forgive us for not doing more to protect you.

To the dead, there is nothing I can say to lessen the pain. You are missed.
