Do not go gentle into that good night
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
Dylan Thomas.
Ranks along side with The Second Coming by William Butler Yeats as my favourite poem of all time
Do not go gentle into that good night,
Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
Though wise men at their end know dark is right,
The pub stays open don’t go away
For it will not close till past midnight.
Wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight
Another round and so they stay
To be the first to leave is not polite
Do not go gentle into that good night.
And when the midnight came around
and the landlord said
on your bike my dear friend
he staggered out gently into that good night.
I'll be leaving with a gentle smile and a peaceful mind.
