Not sure where to put this but i thought some here might find it interesting.
we've had really bad forest fires in the BC interior the last few years & the fires in CA seem to keep getting worse.
so maybe it's just not all global warming.
also interesting take on the comparison to financial mkts.

"The best analogy here is how naturally occurring forest fires burn fast and rejuvenate the forest. If you suppress forest fires for a century (as we have done in the US), then when the forest does catch fire, it overwhelms our ability to fight it. Forest fires are increasingly bigger and more damaging to ecological systems, rather than the small contained fires that would naturally occur and burn themselves out. Economic systems are no different. Short, sharp recessions that reset the deck are healthy. Building up a generation of financial excess is destabilizing because the bubble will eventually pop—just like the monster forest fire eventually ignites."

Good analogy but modern economies(all of them, pure socialism is mythical) rely on infinite growth (capitalism) and need to completely collapse and reset. Empires fall, when a global economy goes down it's going to be ugly. The whole world's piles of money up in flames.

could not agree more.
it's amazing how few ppl are aware of shaky ground that the phony prosperity is built on.
