In the 1980's I frequently visited the small fishing village of Ullapool in NW Scotland. Adjacent Loch Broom had several Soviet factory ships or Klondykers which processed herring brought in by a fleet of trawlers.
A year or so later the factory ships were still there but now they were processing mackerel. The herring had been fished out. The Klondykers are long since gone and so are most of the Mackerel.
