The Iowa Unitarian Universalist Society 133,592-square-foot church has net-zero energy.

All-electric, powered by geothermal heat pump system and solar photovoltaic panels, the building also has bioretention cells to capture and filter storm water runoff.

The landscaping features native grasses and woodland walking trails, accessible food gardens, and visitor access to charging stations.

The sanctuary’s prow extends along an evergreen grove, and services pause respectfully when deer and woodland creatures pass.

I don't intend to ever darken a mainstream religion church again, but Unitarians seem innocuous and this building is positive in energy. I love Buddhist temples, of course.
