It's all over the news about scientists taking the first picture of a black hole. How do we know this isn't an eclipse? Any science people out there who can explain why they think this is a black hole? I'm curious.

I will take the scientists at their word on this!

Similarly to why we know the moon landing wasn't shot on a Hollywood set. A LOT of scientists worked on this from around the world. From what I have read so far... Multiple telescopes were used to compile the image. They would know I should think.
