My profile now states that i am interested in smoking. How fucking stupid is that? I'm not interested in smoking, I smoke, and I'm trying to quit. It is ridiculous to offer "smoking" as an interest, but it was even more ridiculous for me to select it. That being said, I want to quit smoking, but I want to stop doing stupid shit in general. (Like clicking the interested in smoking button.)

I finally quit after 25 years, by cold turkeying it. I set a date (about 2 months away) and the morning of that day, I just didn’t smoke.
Was it easy? No.
But it will be my 10 year anniversary of being tobacco free on September 29th.
Reality is that it is simply a choice.
YOU choose to light up or not to light up.
Period.
The nicotine is gone within 24 hours or so.
The withdrawals are mainly due to you not doing certain things. For example: no cig when you wake up or after dinner. Not doing these actions are also breaking the addiction from them. See, you have 2 addictions to overcome. Nicotine and habits.
If you decide to do it, you will succeed. Seriously.
I used mini tootsie roll pops, books/crafts, and video games to push through the ex cig habit times.
Also, and I’m dead serious—I verbalized when my cravings were bad. I would say out loud ‘I want a cigarette’ or ‘I want a FUCKING cigarette!’ I was owning the struggle and letting others know I was struggling. And I held on.

I first became interested in smoking when I was a young man, and i saw all the cool kids doing it. And I didn't have any money for nice things, so i had to act like i didn't give a fuck anyway. My cigarettes trumped your Nikes. (But they didn't really, I still have the same cigarettes.)
