This is about as idiotic as the way things were when I was in the military. It was believed that a gay man would be easily compromised if captured because the enemy would promise to give him what he wanted in exchange for information. OK. Wouldn't this work the same way if we promised to give a straight man a woman?

The jury in the case of this gay man is very ignorant!

Are you sure about the reasoning? As I remember, gay men in government security positions have traditionally been considered to be easily compromised in that back in the day, homosexuality was something that needed to be hidden. The gay person, it was opined, was subject to threats of being "outed" with all the negative results.

A common soldier on the other hand was not considered to have any stratigic knowledge anyway.

@dahermit I think you are exactly correct on the outing but my remarks were from an interpretation about the common soldier. I was in the Army in the 1960's and we had 2 known gay men in our company. As for any actions against them people just sort of ignored it.

This is exactly the kind of thing that makes me wish for a very large asteroid.
Nothing is going to get rid of bigotry. Nothing is going to get rid of religion.
This country is doomed.

To be precise, the man is a convicted murderer, and to the options of Life sentence or Death, the Jury decided the Death Penalty because he would probably enjoy being in prison being gay. THAT'S SO STUPID! As if anyone would enjoy being in jail for life. Maybe that juror is a conservative christian and/or Trump supporter...

Sounds terrible, but I can't read it without making an account.
