Actress, Georgia Engel, died Friday at the age of 70. She was funny, I enjoyed her when I watched her. I just found out that her cause of death is undetermined,
that she was a "christian scientist" (there's an oxymoron if there ever was one), and that she didn't consult physicians. Which was her right, as it is everyone else's.

Here's the topic for discussion.
Regardless of one's religious beliefs (if any), and as long as medical treatment is not being withheld from children, how reasonable do you think it is for any adult to "just let nature take it's course" and eschew seeking medical treatment for any reason?

--I make the distinction for children because they are generally unable to consent to accept or refuse medical attention, and should generally be legally protected from idiot parents who use their religious beliefs as an excuse for not vaccinating, treating curable diseases, having broken bones set, etc.

To each one's own. Just like abortion, if you don't want medical care, no one should be able to decide you can or can't have it. We all die......some of us want to die with a little dignity, and not surrounded by medical devices and hocus pocus. I know I have an exit plan.....it doesn't involve useless procedures that cost thousands of dollars.

Adult can do as they wish. It really does get mucked up if you choose to have a child and have religious beliefs that say doctors and medicine should not be used to interfere with 'god's' plan. In this country we have freedom to practice our faith (or not in my case) as we see fit. There are laws against murder. I am not a lawyer but if there is no ill intent and one truly believes doctors and medical intervention is against your belief (which, just to be clear, IMHO is pretty fucked up) they have a Constitutional right to practice their faith. So maybe manslaughter?

Religious indoctrination of children should be a felony. As should denying children medical care based on religious beliefs.
Adults are free to do as they please, but they shouldn't be allowed to expose children to that crap.

Liked her as Ted's girlfriend on Mary Tyler Moore Show? Adults only should have the right to make health decisions for themselves, not family mebers. Even adults.

I think they should be charged with neglect of a child. If that child dies, they should be charged with manslaughter.

Absolutely. However, the topic of discussion is about adults, not children.
I already made the distinction about kids.

@KKGator Adults can do what they wish.
