Since my 20s, I have had an organ donor designation on my driver's license.
What's wrong with prednisone? I'm not sure I understand that picture.
I was on 60mg of prednisone, daily, for the better part of two years.
It damn near killed me. Didn't save my vision either, so it was pointless to have been on it.
I am leaving my entire body to medical science....they can take anything of use. It won’t be any further use to me. Glad you got the transplant....and hope you are continuing to keep well.
My nephew may be needing a lung transplant in the not too distant future, I'm hoping there are generous people out there... I am a registered donor, not sure they will take my organs now. I can't give blood in the US as I lived in Germany in the early 80s. I could be a carrier or creutzfeldt-jakob disease. Not sure if that applies to organs as well.
i was in germany from 1979 until nov 82 & have donated blood many times since. the mad cow disease must have occurred after 1982.
@callmedubious i was there 85 to 88, so it could be.
I totally agree. Unless they are some type of selfish prick, I don't know why anyone wouldn't want to be an organ donor.
I will say this, my sister was in a coma and Dr's said that she was brain dead and told my parents to pull the plug because supposedly there was no brain activity. In the very beginning first thing they asked them was if they could donate her organs. It was like they could not wait to start cutting her apart. My parents said hell know because this was their 17 year old child. She was in a coma for sometime. My sister is now 31 with a family. Dr's kept telling my parents that there was no chance of recovery. I am glad that I still have my sister and that my parents were not open to donating her organs. If you are ready to be donated make sure that you are truly dead, but I guess there's no way that you would know for sure, because Dr's already know everything.
@Wildgreens I've heard of similar stories unfortunately.
I'm glad that you were able to benefit from an organ donor. That's the one good thing that came from the death of my former love. I had talked him into being an organ donor and he helped many.
