“Show me your hands! Drop it!” Holcomb said, firing four shots in rapid succession. According to the video footage, no more than six hundredths of a second had passed since he had finished the command
-> it appears to me Holcomb’s intent was to shoot and the command was simply to justify the shooting and to fit department standards.
Who can react in that short period of time? Did the kid even process the command yet in < 0.06 seconds??
And cops wonder why they get so little respect. When good cops protect bad cops, that makes them bad cops. Since we never hear any cops stand up in protest to bad cops, that means they are all bad cops. FUCK'EM!
HEY!!!!!
How the hell do you know what all cops everywhere think?
Until YOU have been in that situation, maybe you should reserve your judgement. You're watching a video playback. A cop is potentially about to be shot to death if they act a split second too slow. And no matter what they do, someone somewhere is going to say they're wrong.
I know, because whether I use minimal force, no force, or all the force at my disposal, someone somewhere in my chain of command is asking me why I didn't do it differently. I'm glad I don't have the additional burden of carrying a gun or a taser. I specifically requested NOT to train with the taser, so I wouldn't have to justify when I did or didn't use it.
Law enforcement officers everywhere risk their lives for your safety. You're welcome.
