It was his destiny, right? Even as a child, I wondered why he didn't just float off that cross, "wow" the crowd and ascend into heavenly climes. But, nooooooooo.

Well, outside of the bible, there is no proof he existed. Plus if he was crucified, it more than likely would have been rope he was affixed to the cross.
