I live in Georgia. This whole "heart beat bill" nonsense is upsetting me. I've been avoiding Facebook because I have family that are staunchly on the "save the babies" brigade and there is no reasoning with these people because their beliefs are not based in the realm of reason. The same people that hate Muslims because "sharia law" and advocate the removal of immigrant children from their parents because "they're criminals" and refuse the take in refugees because "terrorism" think their religious beliefs should dictate policy that affects the lives of over half the population- many of whom do not share their faith. If you attempt to reason with these people, you are only met with hate. If you don't agree with them, than you obviously murder babies for fun. These people do not read except for the sensationalized headlines they see in their newsfeed. They do no research. If they see or hear even one other person (no matter how irreputable) agree with whatever nonsense they did read- it is now fact. These people are absolutely blissful in their ignorance. They do not understand even the most basic scientific concepts. They don't need to. They have god. Why can't we just outlaw god? I'm reminded of Family Guy's "Road to the Multiverse" and the realm where organized religion never took hold. How wondrous could the world be if so much of the population didn't intentionally surrender their minds to medieval nonsense?

The draconian, Georgia anti-abortion bill infuriates me, too. It will likely be thrown out by courts.

In my 20s, I wore a button:

Keep your rosaries
Off my ovaries

Now I'm driving around with the bumper sticker:

Keep your theology
Off my biology

We are fighting the same battles.

Vote Republicans out of office!

The depth of stupidity and willful ignorance in this country is alarming.

Often family will use the threat of isolation to try to keep people in line . . . . I could write a book on the machinations of the psychopaths in my family, they are a bunch of hillbillies, and I got a great sense of freedom in telling them that is exactly what they are and telling them to fuck off. Publicly . . . . about as public as it can get . . . .

The best and most noble revenge is to live a life completely unlike them and the way they live their lives.

I'm just angry and sad and needed to vent. I'm afraid if I voice my opinions on Facebook I could jeopardize what little family I do have.

Most of my Georgian friends have similar feelings right now, so you definitely aren’t alone in this. Persevere!

We need to vent...it is our way of trying to defend our rights as modern women living in 2019. And we will use our voices and our votes to make sure the government doesn't take our rights away.
