Today, despite the beauty outside in Colorado, I will spend my time holed up in front of the TV devouring hours of NBA playoff basketball.

What completely non-productive, non-brain-nourishing activities do YOU love? Call them guilty pleasures, if you want.

Reading is my great pleasure. Reading teaches me about different people, cultures, countries and points of view.

Reading increases my vocabulary, makes me laugh, and develops empathy and compassion for other people. In my 20s, I began doing what I called "literature surveys," reading the great books of:

  1. Black literature
  2. South America
  3. Russia
  4. Gay literature and more.

Well, I'm currently bingeing Babylon 5, as I describe in my shamelessly plugged post here: [agnostic.com]

I wouldn't call it "non-brain-nourishing", though... some episodes are very thought-provoking.

The nice part is the beauty will still be there tomorrow. I had friends that lived in Aurora for a good 15 years and never even took a drive to the mountains.

@Seeker3CO No kidding!
