END ABORTION

There, all caps will get attention, whether the point deserves it or not. Anyway, after seeing the passing of tbe Alabama bill and the horrifying way that controls a woman's body, and how the conservatives can't bear to read studies thst show more access to birth control cuts abortion rates and saves money, and how none want to fund child care, I thought (yes, i know, run on sentence) here is an alternative wsy to control people's bodies and end all abortions, more or less: mandatory birth control, injections, for all, women and men. Then, only those who ask for State permission to conceive would get exemptions. Start the program early.

Contraception should be free at source for everyone. I remember being a student nurse in the 1980's having a short placement with the family planning clinic (provided by the NHS). On a friday afternoon, loads of young guys would come in for condoms. They had them in a big bowl on the counter, all free. No questions asked, not even their age! There are still terminations happen in UK and plenty of unwanted pregnancies but they now all provided free of charge by the NHS. There did used to be some private services but these were outlawed some years ago due to concerns regarding oversight. There is no requirements to have counselling anymore and are provided on demand. It isn't perfect but we need to recognise that virtually everyone has sex and babies are not always good news.
I understand the negative control on women's bodies but this will also mean there is likely to be a generation of unwanted babies too. Unwanted babies grow to be unwanted children, who grow to be unwanted adults, who will be disenfranchised and vulnerable to joining gangs, drugs, mental health issues, which in turn will be an increased burden on society. This is a very backward step.

Very well said. My point was to be more Onionish - satirical, like Swift and his suggestions for the English to eat Irish babies.

@Beowulfsfriend I inderstand. Swift was also way off the mark, Irish babies are notoriously stringy 😉

I fear the state will make even worse decisions than some "parents" (people who manage to reproduce) do.

But seriously this eugenics program has nothing to do with abortion and it's weird that people justify huge, brutal, invasive, costly, social control regimens as "preventing abortion", like abortion is the worst thing in the world ever, and if we humans are left to our own devices, we would just have one after another after another.

Against abortion, don't have one. There are also tons of ways to create a world where there is less reason to ever even be in the situation where one is needed/wanted/even considered. If you(all) personally can't understand/ would be opposed to why a woman would choose to have an abortion (for any reason they pick) then vasectomy or such may be a great choice.

But seriously, I'd be ok with ritual abortion every day of the week, if it stopped gun violence.

Good luck with this. I've tried to bring it up in other ways in another post and give some background as to how it got this far but nobody gives a damn apparently. Hints and movies are often not good enough. So far 2 states are going with this and more are going to fall into line with it. Maybe as many as a 12 state total with laws that will actually put people in prison. Is that what we want? I hope not.

Your idea could solve it all except for one thing. It could not be done because you are actually preventing children from being born and going against the scripture of "be fruitful and multiply." Silliness like this is why pharmacists cannot in good conscience give birth control and priests cannot allow condoms for the masses. This last one would also help in disease prevention. For those whose conscience is so conflicted my advice is to get another job! The end result once again is to gain control by causing guilt even over masturbation. A nocturnal emission might be OK because "god did that."

The world is insane!

That's not authoritain at all, nor cost effective. Certain vasecomies are reversible, so all males should be required to have one. Then we can select which ones would be good fathers and allow the procedure to be reversed, if they wish.
