CNN has issued the new power ranking as of May 23, 2019 of the 2020 of the democratic candidates.
We have to be pragmatic going forward and see which candidate is electable - not who we like. Just liking usually does not go too far - as we saw in 2016. For example, I like Pete Buttiigieg's message and delivery but know well he will not be elected.
The following should should drop out immediately to save wasting of money and people's time, attention, agony and energy. Enough of the freak show.
FLOPPED
Tulsi Gabbard
Jay Inslee
Kirsten Gillibrand
NON STARTERS
Tim Ryan
John Delaney
John Hickenlooper
A JOKE
Eric Stalwell
Seth Moulton
Marianne Williamson
Wayne Messam
Bill de Blasio
Kamala Harris is looking more and more like a VP choice in the general to get women folk votes.
IMO, she's the president way above Biden and would rip Trump a new one in any debate since he is the epitome of the stupid moron.
@Healthydoc70 If she cannot be at the top in the primaries, she will not see Trump on the debate stage.
Too Early. Primaries are still slightly less than a year away. Remember how everyone thou8ght Trump was just a joke candidate? And, then he won the primaries, then the general election?
Yes, you are right about Trump. But he was a unique phenomenon. Also that is what exactly he benefited from.... Beating low expectations.
However, do you know of any democratic candidate who has come from behind late in the game and won presidency in the last 30 years? Hillary was the front runner in 2004 but Obama was 2nd.
There are rare perfect storms in politics where an unlikely candidate fit in correctly and surprisingly.
Obama came after Bush and Cheney;s destruction of the economy, 2 elective wars, lying for the pretext of Iraq war, 3,000 American lives lost, companies closing, Detroit in shambles, Wall Street crashing 800 points every other day and then came Sarah Palin which was a a huge huge gift for Obama. John Macain made terrible mistakes and was very old -- it was a perfect storm for Obama who was Ivy League educated, well spoken and a likable candidate. He did not vote for Iraq war. It was a huge asset against Hillary Clinton at the time when the nation had every reason wanting a change desperately. I don't think America will elect another black president (or a Jewish, Mromon, gay or atheist). for another 30 years.
Jimmy Carter came after Nixon, after Watergate. this was again a perfect storm for Jimmy Carter.
I agree with your point that an underdog can come from behind in the primaries and win the party nomination. Jimmy Carter happened more than 30 years ago. I hope that is Beto O'rourke or Elizabeth Warren and no other. My choice of course. Sadly, I am aware that the country is not ready for Pete Buttigieg yet.
ust scanning and my brain went booker buttgig and bollock - that well known firm of dodgy lawyers - shows how my brain is working today -- good job bidet was higher up the list
Pete Buttigieg does a Town Hall with Fox News and he moves up in polls and creates a big buzz again. Beto O'rourke does a Town Hall with CNN and it makes no difference in his ranking or makes no new buzz. It is time for Beto to support another candidate.
totally agree...
