His track record seems impressive. Would you support Bernie Sanders? [facebook.com]
yes
would I support Harris, yes...would I support Biden, yes...would I support any Democrat over any Republican? yes...
Taking the car magnets from 2016 off my fridge & putting them back on the car!
We have extremely short memories in this country. Remember Republicans winning the public debate by accusing Democrats of wanting to “redistribute income from the wealthy to the poor”, when all they wanted was to allow George W Bush’s temporary (and disastrous) tax breaks to expire? Then in 2015 Bernie came along and, repeating his consistent, decades-long position about the gross (and growing) wealth gap between the richest and the rest, made it okay for Americans to finally have a real debate about income inequality and draw attention to the immorality of our economic system. Remember also before Bernie’s 2016 presidential run, universal health care was off the table, killed during Obama’s attempt to ensure coverage for all. (Even the public option was shut down). And despite Bernie’s opponent in the Democratic primary declaring that universal health care will never happen, today we have Medicare For All Bills in the House and Senate with growing public support. If you oppose M4All because you don’t want to lose the coverage and doctors you have, think of a) the 40 million uninsured in the country who have no coverage and no care, and b) the fact that most of our employers change their plans every year and we are forced to choose a new plan, which often leads to a change in in-network doctors. Lastly, for now, I cannot let go of the fact that in the 1950’s Bernie traveled to the south to join black mothers in standing up to government forces who were attempting to maintain segregated schools by installing broken down trailers to handle the overflow of students in black schools, rather than open up white schools to blacks. He was arrested while chained to the women he was there to support. His unwavering, consistent support for social justice is second to none in the presidential primary field. I’m not a Berniebot. I’m a social justice warrior and I make no apology for my now four years of working for a Bernie presidency.
only if he is the final Democrat choosen in the primaries...
I do NOT support Bernie Sanders.
Even if he wins nomination ? That That's how trump won last time
As a lifelong Democrat, I will vote for the Democratic candidate who wins the nomination.
@LiterateHiker great don't need a repeat of last time
Is the convention over already? Did he beat out the other 20-some candidates? Sure, he's got my support. Until then, his record is that he switched to Democrat as a flag of convenience when he wanted to run for the White House and then lost the primary in 2016, and he's too radical for 3/4 of the people I know. But I'm in a red county.
I prefer someone with liberal credentials who can reach out to the middle, and doesn't have one failure under their belt. Someone from the middle of the country would be ideal.
May I correct that statement? Sanders switched from an Independent to Democrat because if he ran as a third party candidate he would have been a spoiler for the Democrat, siphoning off Democrat voters , which would have allowed the Republican to win. Sanders lost the Primary election due to dirty tricks by the establishment Democrats. (I'll tell what those were if you want.)
You want someone who doesn't have one failure under their belt? Anyone who has been in politics and tried to get anything done has tried and failed at least once. And if anyone never failed, the Republicans would make something up!
@dare2dream I give him credit that at least he didn't want to be a Ralph Nader or a Jill Stein. For that, we had Jill Stein.
What you call "dirty tricks" is called "party politics". Read about the conventions of 1860 and 64. Look at how Lincoln got the nomination. 2016 was tame.
@dare2dream yeah torpedoed by Clinton
Democrat = Republican = Corporate fascist plutocrat war-for-profit-loving gangster who pretends to be for the citizens while running, then turns into the people's worst nightmare when they land in office. How the fuck else do you think the middle class has become much more scarce? It was not something that just happened, it happened with help from the bastards on both sides of the aisle, and it is not going to stop happening until people start to realize that their vote is as worthless as a screen door on a submarine, and decide to do something about it.
I'm sick of this line of BS. Grow the hell up.
If voting is worthless, and both parties are identical, why are the Republicans going so far out of their way to suppress the votes of people who they think will vote the wrong way?
And what do you suggest doing as an alternative? Your current legal options are 1) stay home, or 2) move to another country. Otherwise, support a candidate or get involved yourself. Run for office. Write editorials. Go out and canvass for your party. Work for change.
Do something. Instead of just griping that the system is broken.
We do not need voters . . . . . we need revolutionaries.
That you are saying about the French Revolution, the Revolutionary War, and many other that displaced despotic rule. Sounds defeatist to me.
The winning ticket would be Biden and Bernie or Warren as Vice.
@SeaGreenEyez , I agree with you completely. I am a huge Bernie Fan. Warren too. I always have been. I was very disheartened when he lost the Demo nomination to Hillary. I really thought he had a chance. I really thought he could beat Trump over Hill. I'm damaged from the whole thing. I do feel desperate. I want be anybody at this point, instead of Trump. Dems have to be strategic about winning over his stupid base. Sadly, they like white blue blooded business men. If Bidden was good enough for Obama them he's good enough.....for now. Lol
I have felt the Bern for a a long time. Teachers here in CA were totally behind him in the last election. BUT, I'm too fearful that he would lose to Trump. I don't want to take any risks in getting back the Executive office. I think Biden has the best chance at stealing some of Trump's Base away from him.
I'm for Bernie Sanders.
