I visited the Wall in 1988. I, like many others, was struck silent by the size, by the number of names, by the sheer enormity of loss. It was overwhelming, but also beautiful. Visitors left mementos; I read these are all kept. Of all the things I saw in DC that day, this one touched me most.

It is good to honor those who sacrificed their lives for our sake.

I can barely go visit the wall...seeing people there crying and remembering breaks my heart...I used to go with my dad, but he stopped going because he had so many names to find...
