Politics got me down. Whether it is abortion bans or voting restrictions it tortures me that progress has reversed. Been avoiding news outlets but I know I have to stay informed somehow. Just want to know how do you guys cope and stay optimistic.

I don’t. I go insane and rant about it on Facebook.

Personally, I find hope in laughter. Just look at the arc of the human race, we have survived in spite of ourselves, we move forward. Yes we make mistakes, some are even well intentioned, but we have the power to laugh at ourselves. Cutting yourself off from bad news, doesn't make it get better, you have to confront it and do what you can to remedy the situation, but always with a smile. All of us get frustrated, but we have to learn that we aren't always right, nor is the other person, but if we don't engage, we will never understand; if we don't understand we don't grow, so engage and smile, enjoy what you have and you'll be surprised about the influence that you can have on those around you, as well as the world as a whole.

Me, too ~ It’s one reason I come here.. If anything important has happened, usually a ‘good person’ has posted a link or made an intelligent assessment. It’s allowed me to basically skip the news for ...a year & a half..

This helps

Sometimes - Sheenagh Pugh
Sometimes things don't go, after all,
from bad to worse. Some years, muscadel
faces down frost; green thrives; the crops don't fail,
sometimes a man aims high, and all goes well.

A people sometimes will step back from war;
elect an honest man, decide they care
enough, that they can't leave some stranger poor.
Some men become what they were born for.

Sometimes our best efforts do not go
amiss, sometimes we do as we meant to.
The sun will sometimes melt a field of sorrow
that seemed hard frozen: may it happen for you.

@Allamanda Its one of my fav poems

I might get down for a day but I come back fighting. Making calls ,getting real info out on Twitter,I joined some groups and protests . It gets overwhelming but that’s what they want with their constant barrage for us to give up.

It is easy to become depressed, however after feeling a bit down I get to do the opposite. I writer emails, join protests and call the politicians. You would be surprised how many people are out there who feel the same, but the most important thing is to educate people about what is happening and how it is going to affect them. Don't despair.
