Do you ever get into arguements in work about god or religion?

No one has ever tried to suss out my metaphysics at "work". But I'm an independent contractor / consultant, so I'm largely protected by professional ethics and the fact that I am needed, yet can walk anytime.

My current client however is run by a conservative Catholic and an evangelical whose stay at home wife home schools four teenage daughters. I don't usually know the beliefs of my clients, either, so this is a red flag -- they are probably curious about mine. I make an effort to stay well clear of such conversations. I am not about to test their tolerance for my beliefs, there's way too much income and stability at stake. Besides, it's both TMI and none of their business.

The most cringeworthy experience, religiously speaking, was at the annual business meeting after the evangelical came on board via a merger with another company. He introduced himself as a "man of god". Everyone in the room sort of cringed and avoided eye contact. It hasn't happened since, I suspect the conservative Catholic told him to tone it down.

As a former evangelical I'm really good at making the correct (yet noncommittal) noises around evangelicals who are doing social signaling in hope of figuring out if I'm one of them. I think I end up coming across as a moderate and possibly backslidden evangelical and therefore not a threat. I find this useful. I don't need to prove my rightness, I'm just doing my job. Work interactions should be confined to work matters.

Most of my working life was in mainly Agnostic England -I can say I never got into an argument as its a no-no really and but I was cornered on a train once by some Evangelist who wanted to save souls really uncomfortable the train was packed too.
